WARP + LEFT

Introducing Warp + Left, a blog dedicated to understanding the politics of fashion...

Fashion is a dirty industry. It is also an art form, of course. For many of us, the clothes we wear are a fundamental expression of our identity, a source of beauty, repression, sentiment, or tradition. Nonetheless, fashion is still a dirty industry. Just like agriculture, or construction, the global clothing industry exerts tremendous pressure on the planet and its inhabitants, human and non-human alike.

And increasingly, as in so many other facets of life, the economic, environmental, and social impacts of fashion are becoming more damaging than ever before.

Popular discourses often lack the vital critical analysis that allows us to make sense of it all, and in doing so, communicate a radical perspective on fashion.

At Warp + Left, we are attempting to shine a light on some of the curious, revolutionary, destructive, and unseen aspects of fashion.

All the Best,
